Dr. Pascual-Garrido joined other members of the ANCHOR Study Group at the ISHA Annual Scientific Meeting of the Hip Society October 17-19, 2024. Dr. Pascual-Garrido and her team were the only female podium surgeons (Women of ANCHOR), where they presented on Sex-Based Differences in the Pre-Arthritic Hip.
Dr. Pascual-Garrido was invited Professor at the Japanese Orthopedic Meeting in Kobe, Japan on October 4-6, 2024. She presented her work on “The Pre-Arthritic Hip: from Bench to Bedside.”
Dr. Pascual-Garrido participating in the Kagamiwari Ceremony. Kagami biraki is a traditional Japanese ceremony where kagami mochi are broken open. The term also refers to the opening of a cask of sake at a party or ceremony.

Dr. Pascual presented at the Japanese Orthopedic association and Kobe University for her work on the translational science in the pre-arthritic hip disease and surgical treatment for the Young Adult Hip Disease.
Dr. Pascual-Garrido will be participating in the HSS Hip Osteoarthritis Symposium focused on clinical research of Osteoarthritis in the hip. This event will take place in New York City at Hospital for Special Surgery in February 2023. National leaders in hip and osteoarthritis will be participating.

January 28-29, 2022 - Hip Arthroscopy and Open Preservation Procedures
This CME cadaver workshop will emphasize diagnosis and surgical treatment options for hip disease, emphasizing comprehensive surgical care and focus on safe surgical strategies. Each afternoon, the learners will take part in the hands on laboratory session, performing the discussed procedures on cadaver hip specimens under the guidance of the expert faculty. Procedures will include hip arthroscopy and open surgical techniques that include surgical dislocation, periacetabular osteotomy, and proximal femoral osteotomy.

Cartilage Wear Pattern May Help Identify Pre-arthritic Hip Disorder
Cartilage lesions in patients with symptomatic, pre-osteoarthritic diseases are very common, according to Cecilia Pascual-Garrido, MD, PhD, who presented results from Paper 899, “Are there Disease-Specific Articular Cartilage Wear Patterns in Various Pre-arthritic Hip Disorders?” during the AAOS 2018 Annual Meeting.
Dr. Pascual-Garrido, MD, PhD also noted that the literature on patterns of articular cartilage damage in pre-arthritic hip disease is limited, with most data being derived from single center, retrospective studies of relatively small patient cohorts.

Dr. Pascual-Garrido, MD, PhD was selected to present her novel data on cartilage wear in patients with abnormal hip morphology at the prestigious AAHKS (American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons) meeting in Dallas, November, 2017. Her data shows that hip morphology defines the pattern of articular cartilage wear. Hip FAI Cam type, combined pathology, higher BMI, age and longer chronicity of pain was associated with significant more cartilage wear in the hip.
